Congratulations to Steven Casas for being awarded a baseball scholarship at California State University, Los Angeles. His Letter of Intent is signed, sealed, and delivered. Steven's parents, brothers, and grandparents are proud of Stevie's accomplishment. Steven is grateful to his family and all the teachers and coaches who have helped him along the way. It's off to Hollywood for this star who is comfortable on center stage. Look out Los Angeles, 2019 Varsity Team Captain, Steven Casas is coming to town.
The hardest working man in the Marina Baseball program has booked his baseball future at Chapman University. Congratulations are in order for this model of integrity who serves as the backbone of the 2019 Vikings baseball team. A Captain of the entire team, he is especially kind and generous to the reserve catchers who back him up. Dylan is grateful for the love and support of his family...and they are proud of his accomplishment. Chapman University is lucky to have this tremendous addition to their team.
Congratulations to senior outfielder and pitcher, Austin Hallman. His baseball career will continue at George Fox University in Oregon where he has committed to this winter. Austin credits this achievement to God, his family, his teachers, his coaches, but most of all to his beloved mom. Parents, Donn and Anne-Marie, are thrilled about this wonderful opportunity for their ambitious son to pursue his dreams in the Great Northwest.
Congratulations are in order for 2019 Varsity Team Captain, Cory Lewis (Class of 2019). He has signed an official letter of intent to attend UCSB with a baseball scholarship. A hearty Vikings salute to his entire family for preparing him to succeed. Cory thanks each and every one of the baseball coaches and classroom teachers who have assisted him over the last dozen years in attaining this goal. Parents, Susan & Larry, are very proud of his achievement. Entering his senior season, Cory has already been named Sunset League Rookie of the Year in his freshman year and Sunset League Pitcher of the Year in his sophomore campaign. Cory is excited to attend UCSB, a fantastic forum for him to pursue both his academic and athletic goals.
FROM COACH HESS…
Dedicated to providing a “Class First” program, the Marina High School Baseball Coaching staff will provide a meaningful learning experience for every student-athlete in the baseball program. Coaches will embrace their responsibilities as role models and mentors.
Student-athletes will have high expectations as they prepare themselves to go to college, improve their baseball skills, and become more productive citizens. Above all, they will be excellent teammates.
Every member of the Marina High School Baseball Program will conduct themselves with class. On the field and off the field, in the classroom and in the community, we will represent Marina with the highest regard for its fine reputation and tradition. We will consider it an honor to be complimented for our sportsmanship, humility, and classy behavior.
Besides serving as pitching and hitting instructors, coaches will serve as coaches of confidence, citizenship, and character. Players will not only sharpen their athletic fundamentals, but also shape the integrity and values that will secure the success in their future.
We intend to be a competitive force that contends for Sunset League titles and advances to the playoffs every year. There are all types of success. This program wins not only when we win baseball games; we win when we send players to college and we win when we develop productive citizens who make a difference in the communities they live in.
